FABRICS FIT FOR THE 

SWEET SUMMER HEAT


Sweet summer is upon us and temperatures are rising up! Depending on where you live, you may be experiencing summer heat that may even reach triple digits (Fahrenheit), yikes! Whether you're planning an intimate backyard wedding or a tropical destination wedding, being comfortable is as important to style when choosing your dress. You wouldn't want to be sweating, I meaning glistening in a dress meant for another season on one of your most important days. 

We put together some information on fabrics that maybe more suitable for warmer temperatures, so that you stay cool, calm, and collected on your wedding day. Some fabrics best for the summer season are organza, illusion, tulle, lace, and chiffon.


Organza

Organza, 
a thin and breathable fabric that is typically made from silk. It is soft and light weight, making it perfect for warmer weather. This type of fabric usually has a sheen to it which makes any wedding dress classy and magical.





Illusion

Illusion is a versatile netting fabric that is made from nylon. It has a delicate sheer look making it perfect for adding design elements like sleeves or opening up a neckline without the uncomfortable feel of thick fabric. It can also be used on the back of dress to give the "illusion" of a covered back without the need for heavier fabric that will create more heat. This fabric is also perfect for showing off any delicate detailing, such as beautiful beaded lace appliques. 






Tulle

Tulle is also a type of netting fabric, known for its stiffer feel than Illusion.  Tulle is usually used to incorporate structure and specific styling. For example, it is often used in petticoats and skirts to create fullness and body in a ball gown style wedding dress. This fabric is still a good option because of its light and airy qualities. You can definitely still have your fairy tale dress even in the scorching temperatures due to the lightness of this fabric.









Lace

Lace is an all time favorite of brides for its romantic touch on a dress. It is a delicate fabric with beautiful patterns traditionally created by hand. It is a top choice to wear in hot summer weather for its light and soft feel. Lace nowadays are mostly made with cotton fibers, but it may also be made with linen and silk threads.






Chiffon

Chiffon is a lightweight woven fabric that seems almost transparent. It is usually made from cotton, silk, or synthetic fibers like nylon, rayon, and polyester. Like illusion and tulle fabrics, chiffon is actually best when layered with other fabrics. Chiffon is an airy fabric that drapes beautifully, perfect for a destination beach wedding where the dress can catch the wind, making for great wedding pictures. 






Try to keep in mind these fabrics when you are on the hunt for the perfect dress fit for high temperatures. You should of course always choose a dress you feel most comfortable.
