What You Should Include in Your Wedding Invitation

All Things Wedding Invitations

How early is too early to send out your wedding invitations?
What should be included? Today we are here to talk about all things wedding invites.

Q: WHEN SHOULD I SEND OUT WEDDING INVITATIONS?

Wedding invitations can't be sent out too early or too late, they should be sent out after the Save The Dates notices and having set up your wedding website. They are the formal invitation for your guests to RSVP and to remind them, hey this event is coming up, so get ready. When you're having a destination wedding, be considerate and you send them out with a bit more time than a local wedding. For this we suggest about 3 months before the wedding date. And if you're planning a local wedding, we suggest 6 to 8 weeks prior to the wedding.

Q: WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD I INCLUDE?

Basic information that will guide your guest are date, time, and location of event and do include the guest RSVP card.  If you're wondering how much time should be allowed to RSVP, we suggest ending it 2 to 3 weeks before the big day. That will allow you enough time to make any final adjustments to seating arrangements and so on. Be sure to be clear about the return date on the card.

Registry
Although traditions are changing with time, including your wedding registry with your invitation is still seen as a no-no. Wedding gifts are not required and so please avoid listing gift registry info on the invitation. It is best to include this information on your wedding website.

Children, yes or no?
Will your magical celebration be a kids-free zone? If so, be sure to be up front and let your guests know this policy through your invitation. If you notice people have RSVP with their children in tow, do give them a polite call and communicate there will be no children allowed, but emphasis you hope they will still be able to attend.

Dress Code
As most weddings have a dress code, it is great to include this information in your invitation. From black tie to casual wear, this will allow clarity for your guests and will only help you achieve the right atmosphere that you wish.

Plus One or no?
Will your guests be allowed a plus one? This should be determined before sending out invitations. Depending on the size of your wedding and budget, you may or may not have the allowance for extra guests. If you allow a plus one, made clear on your invitation to state their name "and guest's name as well". If people try to RSVP with a plus one without you allowing it, just let them know the reason behind for not including a plus one. Be clear about it, and all will understand.

RSVP
Sending back the RSVP cards to you is essential to finalize the wedding attendances. Address on the back of the invitation envelope should be the return address for these cards. Along with the RSVP card please include postage for its proper and efficient return.

Not Doing Wedding Website, No Problem...

A wedding website is the modern day commodity that is sure to come in handy for your wedding. A lot of couples are opting for this for their wedding day because it allows you to offer more details and also update information about the big day. It will also allow you to simplify and stream line the printed wedding invitation.

But if you're not planning to create a wedding website, you will just need to include more information in your invitation. Such as allowing guests to specify of any food allergies and/or dietary restrictions on the RSVP card. As well as to include driving directions and any needed accommodations for out of town guests.

Apart from what to include in your invitation there are also other considerations, such as design and color theme for the invitation card to compliment your style and personality. But do remember, you are reaching out to family and friends, so even if it is a formal invitation, take everything in this wedding planning journey in stride and don't be overwhelmed with all the many details. If your friends happen to have any questions they can of course reach out to you for more information. So have fun and try not to be overwhelmed with all the many details of your wedding planning.
