How To Deal With Wedding Dress Shopping Anxiety

Wedding dress shopping is mostly seen as a fun part of wedding planning but to some brides that isn't always the case. We want you to know that is completely normal. There can be a lot of pressure of finding "the perfect dress". When brides don't find that they can become anxious. Body image can also be a big factor. Having to try on gowns and show them off to people can be uncomfortable if you are self conscious. We have some tips if you are feeling anxious to hit the bridal shops.

Bring The Right People Around

When brides go wedding shopping there is usually their bridal party or family that come along for the special moment. Don't feel like you have to invite certain people, that can include some family members, even your mother. If you know their opinions will get the best of you don't invite those people. You might even want to do the first bridal shop visit on your own and that is totally fine.

Control What You Can

Anxiety can stem from a lack of control over things. Know that there are some stuff that you just can't control but focus on the things you can. Choose bridal shops that you think you will feel more comfortable in. That can mean a more curated store so you don't feel overwhelmed by how many styles they carry. Schedule a dinner or lunch after shopping to talk about the experience with your friends. This can all help you feel more at ease.

Communicate Your Feelings

If you are trying on something and it doesn't feel right don't feel obligated to say you like it. It sometimes easy to please others then stay true to what you like. If the group of people you brought to the appointment are saying things that may hurt your feelings or are just too opinionated voice your concern. Let them know that although you appreciate having them there this is your wedding dress and what they are saying has caused you to feel a certain type of way.

Don't Over Think

If you start off with the mindset that bridal dress shopping is going to be is going to terrible than you already created that stress factor before it even started. Try having a more positive mindset and think of all the things that could go right. This will help you have a different perspective going into the event.
