Do You Need Save the Dates For Your Wedding?

Save the dates are one of the first pieces that announce your wedding date and let your guests know to get ready for the big day. They are typically sent out a few months after being engaged and when couples have settled on the wedding date. But are they really necessary? Some couples choose not to have them and are able to cut down on their expenses. So are they the right fit for your wedding? Keep on reading to find out.

Pro: Help Guests Plan

Most people have calendars that fill up quickly so having plenty of time in advance is always a great way to ensure they are able to attend the wedding. It also helps them ask for time off if there is travel involved. Your guest are always to appreciate the heads up given with a save the date.

Pro: They Will Know They Are Invited

Although some of your guests may assume they will get invited to the wedding, a save the date will let them know to be on the look out for more details to come. It lets them know they are going to be on the guests list so that they can begin to plan as well.

Con: Less Time For Guest List Planning

If you want to send out save the dates you're going to have to finalize your guest list quicker than not sending any out. Once you send out the save the date the person knows they are invited so you won't be able to uninvite them. So schedule out some time to really get the guest list arranged.

Con: Cost Can Be Unnecessary

Creating save the dates isn't just about the stationary itself. Couples sometimes book photoshoots for the save the dates. There are smaller costs that come along with save the dates. This means that they might not work for everyones budget. So take a look at your budget and decide if you are able incorporate them in your spendings.
