Trunk Show 101
The wedding dress shopping has begun and you're on the hunt for your dream dress. We recommend attending at least one trunk show in this process. If you aren't familiar with a trunk show it's when a bridal store hosts a designer to come and show off their new and full collections. It's a time to see a wider selection from your favorite designer and even catch a special reduced price with it. If this sounds like something you would be interested in here are some tips to help you navigate through a trunk show.
Finding One To Attend
There are several ways you can find out if your designer is coming a town near you. We have social media, to begin with. Follow your designer or bridal shop and keep an eye out for any announcements. This is a great way to also have and questions you may have answered about the trunk show it's self. Another place where you can find one is going onto the designers website. They will most likely post a calendar with any special events they will be in or hosting.
You Don't Have To Say Yes
You might feel pressured to make a purchase because the designer is there and you signed up for the event but you don't have to. If you just couldn't find a gown you love don't second think your decision to make a purchase. You might even find a gown you like more in the store by another designer and that is more than okay.
Good For Budgeting
As we all know wedding gowns can get a bit pricey. Trunk shows are great because it sometimes comes with some reduced pricing or promotions. With that being said it would be a great time to make a purchase but not an obligation.
One Of A Kind
Trunk shows are a great place to find a one of a kind dress. You can talk to the designer and ask about custom changes you would consider for one of their gowns. You also get a broader look at their collections that aren't always kept at bridal stores. So if you want a gown that most brides won't get a trunk show is where to do it.
